Warm autumn festival for kids in Ma Da Forest - Bien Hoa, Dong Nai

Following red-soil roads to muddy forest, our volunteers arrived in Ma Da ward, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province to prepare the charity program for poor, unlucky children in this fairly remote place.

Local residents are migrant fishermen from Cambodia Lake, their life is having numerous difficulties and hardships, they lack of everything, "no electricity", "no road", "no school, less education condition".... They stay on boats or in houses with temporary roof. They have no identity documents, children have no birth certificates. To maintain life and meals, they do fishing just like their parents. Only 3 hours away from HCMC but the life is quite miserable and pitiful...

It broke our hearts to see torn houses, children with sunburns in dirty clothes. Without a toy, their childhood was all about mountains and ‘hard jobs’. Many children must drop-out to earn their living...

Thanks to “Lan Gio Am” organization for giving us – VMEC volunteers an opportunity to join a meaningful program in this mid-autumn season. Ma Da forest touched us deeply with many thoughts about human fate. We all wished to come back this place since our first trip, to share small gifts, to bring spirit of warm mid-autumn in  the image of “Chi Hang, Chu Cuoi” story and especially traditional “moon cake"...to Ma Da lifes. Being able to build a warm season for children has been a great joy for VMEC members who always hold sharing social care spirit for a happier life!

These photos are good memory of something called happiness of sharing. This happiness has rised from the love and sympathy for destitute lives. We came from different places, but with same empathy, we all gave the children meaningful moments, presents. Believing that these activities and commodity are essential to the kids: teamwork games, lovely traditional lanterns, pairs of slippers, toys, educational books, moon cakes, candies. All is to bring back smiles more often on their mouths.
