CAN EMERGENCY BE PREVENTED IN ADVANCE?

Emergency is unexpected situations, occured due to several reasons:

Objective, out of control:

Eletric cut or broken, fire, rain, flood, storms, thunder or because of intentional destruction for many unpredictable reasons. These reasons are hardly forecasted.

In our control:

  • Elevator operation malfunction or unusual fault due to wrong installation; weak abilities or negligence in operation leading to unforeseen serious consequences.
  •  
  • Equipment that is not maintained periodically, properly, not to be replaced synchronously will wear out in the long run, be worse quality and it affects the entire system operation.
  •  
  • Elevator that is damaged for a long time, not being repaired, replaced in time is a permanent risk which turns to be accidents at any time.

PREVENTING ACTION:

To avoid emergency, let prevent elevator threats in advance by:

  1. Select elevators of prestige brands in terms of quality, safety, clear and trusted origin.
  2. Carefully study and select reputable, genuine installation contractors through true capacity profile, well-measured practical projects they have contracted to ensure project quality rightly from the beginning.
  3. Make sure to use a stable, standard power source, and good investment for backup power in secure.
  4. There are preventive measures, to deal with natural disasters: fires, floods, rainstorms before planning for the installation and putting elevators into operation system.
  5. Regularly organize training courses for supervisors and building’s staff about processes and ability to detect, deal with emergencies, rescue activities.
  6. Enhance the awareness of elevator management section in coordinating, frequently contacting with genuine maintenance department, elevator suppliers to inform timely about current elevator’s status and find optimal solutions for broken situations.
  7. Actively use genuine maintenance packages and regularly check by yourselves elevator’s quality after each maintenance section. 
  8. Continuously update knowledge about emergency rescue to new elevator supervisors, ensuring smooth practice in case of incidents.

THOUGH, BE READY FOR EMERGENCY RESCUE:

Your calm and right actions, right attitude is the best key to handle emergency cases.

A. GENERAL NOTICE FOR PASSENGERS IN CASE OF ELEVATOR INCIDENTS: 

  1. Do not use elevators for evacuation in case of earthquake or fire.
  2. Do not use elevators when flooded because the basement or pit holes can be flooded due to heavy rainstorms. Passengers may be trapped in the cabin because the flooded equipments lead to malfunction operation, or the occurrence of unexpected accidents.
  3. When there is violent thunderstorm near the building, do not use elevators.
  4. When there is a power cut notice near the building, do not use elevators.
  5. Pay attention or watch out your steps when the elevator door opens. Need to determine the status of stop or continue drifting of stairs and define the elevator for whether it rightly stops at floor or not, then decide to step out or stand inside the cabin.
  6. Pay attention when you walk out of the cabin, very easy to stumble due to foot stuck in the gap between the cabin door and landing door.
  7. When the elevator is out of power, passengers only temporarily trapped in the cabin. Please use internal phone to inform the supervisors outside and stood in the cabin. Elevator will operate again after a few minutes with backup power.
  8. Passengers stuck in the cabin do not try to escape from cabin through the emergency exit door or try open the cabin door by picking, stamping. This is very dangerous, because passengers can fall down into the hoistway or jammed into the equipmenst moving along the hoistway. 
  9. Be calm waiting in the cabin and comply with the building management’s guidance through the internal system. The cabin is not completely closed and will not lack of air.
  10. After a fire, do not use the elevator until safe conditions are confirmed.
